JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas), Yusril Ihza Mahendra, stated that the trial for the acid attack on Deputy Coordinator of Kontras, Andrie Yunus, is still within the military court system to date.

This is because, according to Yusril, no civilian perpetrators have yet been designated as suspects.

“If currently no suspects from the civilian sector have been found, then the adjudication is entirely under the military court,” Yusril said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (10/4/2026).

In the relevant regulations, it is stipulated that any active TNI member who commits a criminal offence shall be tried in a military court.

He explained that the current Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) does regulate matters of connectivity cases involving civilian and active TNI elements.

“So now there is a provision in the KUHAP on connectivity, which was discussed previously if there are military suspects and civilian suspects. But up to today, no civilian suspects have been found, so it will entirely fall under the jurisdiction of the military court,” he said.

As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered an injury to his right eye and 20 percent burns to his body from being doused with acid.

From the investigation, four personnel from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) have been designated as suspects in connection with alleged involvement in the incident.

They are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.

The suspects are charged under Article 467 of the Criminal Code for planned assault, with a prison sentence threat of a minimum of four years and a maximum of seven years.

Recently, the Kontras activist sent a letter to the Constitutional Court (MK), specifically to the judges handling the judicial review case of the TNI Law.

The letter was read during a civil society solidarity action in front of the MK building on Wednesday (8/4/2026) by the Deputy Director of Imparsial, Hussein Ahmad.
