Bandung (ANTARA) - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) together with the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) is renovating around 40,000 uninhabitable house units (rutilahu) throughout West Java this year 2026 using the concept of efficiency through the ‘people’s tender’ mechanism. In the newly launched programme, said West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in a statement in Bandung on Thursday, West Java becomes the province with the largest allocation from the national target of 400,000 units this year. The programme began with the renovation of 10 house units in Kampung Kiaraeunyeuh, Banyusari Village, Katapang Subdistrict, Bandung Regency. An interesting aspect of this programme is the implementation of the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) scheme which directly involves local SMEs. In Banyusari Village, efficiency is clearly visible. From the budget ceiling of Rp175 million for materials for 10 houses, the winning SME was able to meet the needs with only Rp164 million. The remaining budget from the savings was returned to the residents to improve the building quality. The programme was launched and started symbolically on Monday (13/4) evening, also carried out by Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait who stated that each unit receives an allocation of Rp20 million consisting of building material components and mason wages. She assessed that this model not only improves housing but also stimulates grassroots economies. “This house renovation programme has the potential to encourage economic circulation in various regions and bring justice to low-income communities,” said Maruarar. “From the Minister of PKP for Rp20 million, insyaallah from me there is an additional Rp20 million. To add sewing business capital,” said Dedi. Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna added that specifically for the Bandung Regency area, this year’s BSPS programme will target 966 rutilahu units spread across 63 villages in 23 subdistricts.
