Video: To Address Unit Link Mis-Selling Cases, Insurance Needs 3 New Rules
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Rista Qatrini Manurung, Director of Legal and Compliance at AIA Financial, has revealed the causes of mis-selling cases in the marketing of Linked Insurance Products (PAYDI) or Unit Link. Manurung analyses that customer complaints regarding Unit Link products arise from mis-selling due to contributions from insurance companies, sales agents, and customers. Therefore, to address this, collaboration among all parties is required, along with improvements and strengthening from a regulatory perspective. There are three legal innovations needed to tackle mis-selling issues in unit link insurance products, namely rules on conditional accountability that is controlled and authorised, as well as 25 mitigation efforts for improving insurance governance. However, efforts to promote innovations in unit link also face challenges regarding regulatory changes that take time, as well as the implementation of rules that require commitment, additional time, and costs.
