Jakarta – BPOM (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan) head Taruna Ikrar announced that the Indonesian Food and Drug Regulatory Authority has successfully joined the WHO Listed Authority (WLA) register, becoming an internationally standardised food and drug regulator whose reputation is recognised globally.

BPOM’s WLA status represents a significant opportunity for Indonesia to develop pharmaceutical and vaccine production under world-standard oversight conducted by a WHO-recognised agency. Consequently, drugs and food products regulated by BPOM have enhanced opportunities to access export markets due to their high standards.

Moving forward, BPOM will continue driving reforms to support its role as a high-licensed food and drug regulatory authority capable of supporting the development of domestic pharmaceutical, vaccine and food industries and products. This strategy is being implemented through accelerated approval processes for products meeting high standards.
