VIDA raises public awareness of digital fraud methods
Jakarta — PT Indonesia Digital Identity (VIDA), a company providing digital identity services and fraud prevention, unveiled an exhibition titled ‘Faces of Fraud’ to raise public knowledge and awareness of increasingly sophisticated fraud methods.
Founder and Group CEO Niki Luhur said that through the initiative, five victims of digital fraud shared their stories in the hope that their experiences would not be repeated for more people.
‘Through this movement, we want to open the public’s eyes to the fact that the impact of digital fraud is not limited to financial losses; it also leaves emotional wounds, erodes the sense of security, and leaves a lasting imprint on daily life,’ Luhur said in a press release received in Jakarta on Thursday.
One victim is a retiree who lost all their savings due to a modus operandi that diverted funds to crypto assets in a short period.
There is also a victim whose personal data was used for illegal online loans without consent, resulting in prolonged psychological distress.
Luhur said the whitepaper released by VIDA, titled ‘SEA Digital Identity Fraud Outlook’, reveals that modern fraud schemes are becoming more organised, combining multiple attack methods into a single, carefully planned sequence.
He emphasised that if public awareness remains low and the ecosystem does not move collectively, the number of victims will continue to grow.
‘We do not want the number of victims to keep rising. Faces of Fraud is our way of saying that we all have a role in breaking the chain,’ he added.
