The Denpasar Immigration Detention House (Rudenim) deported two Indian nationals, initials R (24) and HD (34), on Thursday (2/4/2026), after they were found to have violated immigration provisions in Indonesia.

The Head of Rudenim Denpasar, Teguh Mentalyadi, explained that R had previously entered Indonesia via Ngurah Rai International Airport on 31 August 2025 using an Indian passport and the Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility for tourism purposes.

However, on 11 September 2025, while attempting to continue his journey to Europe, officers became suspicious of identity discrepancies after R used a Mexican passport. Forensic immigration laboratory examinations confirmed the document was fake.

R’s true identity was subsequently verified by the Indian Consulate General, while the Mexican Embassy stated the passport was invalid.

“The document was detected as a forged and manipulated one,” said Teguh.

R was then charged under Article 119 paragraph (2) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration and served a five-month prison sentence at Kerobokan Class IIA Penitentiary. He was declared fully released on 9 March 2026 before being handed over to Rudenim Denpasar for deportation proceedings.

Expired Residence Permit, Overstay of 74 Days

Meanwhile, HD was known to have entered Indonesia on 10 March 2020 for investment purposes and had established a restaurant business in Bali. However, the business closed in 2024, and HD no longer had steady employment.

Based on examinations, HD’s limited stay permit (ITAS) had expired since 24 December 2025. His passport had also expired since 12 February 2025, while his emergency travel document expired on 28 January 2026.

Until reporting to the Immigration Office, HD had been recorded as overstaying for 74 days.

“After the violators have fulfilled their legal obligations, our duty is to ensure they are promptly removed from Indonesian territory,” Teguh emphasised.

The deportation process for R and HD was carried out via Ngurah Rai International Airport under strict escort to Indira Gandhi International Airport, India.

Immigration authorities also opened the possibility of imposing re-entry bans on the two. Referring to Article 102 of Law No. 6 of 2011, bans can be applied for up to 10 years or even for life, depending on the severity of the violation and considerations by the Directorate General of Immigration.
