UMKM stalls at Teras Udayana, Mataram worth Rp 1.6 billion left idle
Dozens of UMKM stalls in the Teras Udayana area, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are not operating. The building facilities, with a budget of Rp 1.6 billion, are now left idle. Observations by detikBali show the stalls, each measuring 4x4 metres, appear unoccupied. Some stalls look dirty and are starting to deteriorate due to neglect. Head of Mataram City Trade Service (Disdag), Irwan Harimansyah, confirmed that the dozen stalls have not been utilised by the UMKM operators. He said the city government is re-developing the area. “They used to be opened ceremonially, but now it’s quiet. We are redesigning/renovating this area,” he told reporters on Tuesday (19 May 2026). “We haven’t collected any retribution yet because the stalls have not yet been able to be used to their full potential.” He said he has summoned several traders who had occupied UMKM stalls when the facilities were inaugurated. The summons is expected to provide solutions so the area can become active again. “We will also coordinate and sit down with the Tourism Department, Transportation Department, and the Environment Agency (DLH),” he added. He did not know the exact reason UMKM operators have stopped using the facilities, but they want more events to be held at Teras Udayana. “We are giving them three months to discuss. They want events (to attract crowds). For events, we will work with Dispar,” he concluded.
