Two prayers for ease: Arabic, Latin, and their meanings
Two prayers for ease are supplications addressed to Allah to ask that all matters, tasks, or problems one faces be made easier and smoother. These prayers are usually recited when one faces difficulties, is about to undertake work, study, or engage in important activities. One frequently recited prayer is the one narrated in hadith and also the prayer of Prophet Musa found in the Qur’an, particularly in Surah Ta-Ha. The prayer asks Allah to widen the heart, ease affairs, and enable smooth speech and action.

“Allāhumma lā sahla illā mā ja‘altahu sahlā, wa anta taj‘alul ḥazna idzā syi’ta sahlā.” Translation: “O Allah, there is no ease except what You have made easy. And You can make the difficult, if You will, easy.”

“Rabbi ishraḥ lī ṣadrī, wa yassir lī amrī, waḥlul ’uqdatan min lisānī, yafqahū qawlī.” Translation: “O my Lord, open my chest, make my task easy for me, and loosen the knot from my tongue that they may understand my words.”
These supplications are often recited to ask Allah for ease in work, study, speaking, and facing various life affairs. In Islamic teaching, seeking ease is encouraged because humans have limitations, whereas Allah is All-Penetrating Ease. The meaning of these supplications is a form of tawakkul (trusting in Allah) and the belief that only Allah can turn difficulty into ease.
