Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi visited several regions to ensure readiness for the 2026 Lebaran transport operations. One such visit was to the Special Region of Yogyakarta, conducted on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

"This visit to Yogyakarta is part of the coordination relating to the implementation of Lebaran transport operations," said Dudy following a meeting with the DIY regional government at the Kepatihan Governor's Office on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Ahead of the homecoming season, Dudy urged regional and central governments to continue coordinating so that public transport services during Lebaran proceed without disruption. "All preparations must be thorough," he said.

DIY Regional Secretary Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti explained that the Ministry of Transport had requested key mudik destination regions to optimise mosques along homecoming routes through to final destinations, so they could be utilised as rest areas for travellers.

"Particularly for those who need physical recovery during their journey, to ensure regional readiness in welcoming the massive homecoming flow," she said.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport also raised the recommendation to implement a work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy. This is intended to ease the potential concentration of travellers at any single point in time, thereby allowing greater flexibility in traffic flow.

The central government has already issued a WFA policy running from 13 to 27 or 28 March 2026.

Nevertheless, Ni Made acknowledged that challenges remain in the private sector, particularly factories that have operational ties to their locations.
