TNI Initiates Investigation into Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus amid Allegations of Military Involvement
Jakarta — The TNI headquarters has emphasised that its investigation into the acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), is an independent initiative by the institution.
This is due to circulating rumours in society regarding the involvement of TNI members in the case.
“That is correct (purely because there is public opinion),” said TNI Head of Information Centre Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah when met at the TNI Media Centre, Kramat, Senen, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (17/3/2026).
“Where we see there is public opinion circulating, allegedly the perpetrator is from the TNI,” he explained.
Aulia said his institution had not yet coordinated with the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police Regional Office, which is the police investigator.
He asked the public to be patient as the investigation process is ongoing.
However, Aulia emphasised that the investigation will proceed professionally and transparently.
It was previously reported that KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus became a victim of an acid attack by an unknown assailant on Thursday (12/3/2026) evening in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.
As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest and hands.
Based on the initial diagnosis from the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim suffered burns covering approximately 24 per cent of his body.
Due to the acid attack, Andrie Yunus is undergoing intensive care at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
