Now that the government is trying to eliminate excessive
bureaucracy so that the business sector can function effectively,
I hope deregulations will also be introduced in administrative
procedures. For example, efficiency must be enhanced for
obtaining such documents as publication permits, building
permits, vehicle documents, land titles, marriage certificates
from religious offices in the regions, and personal
identification cards. In this relation, many unnecessary
requirements can be eliminated, or stricter rules imposed.

One thing which may contribute to efficiency is to set a
deadline for every procedure so the applicants know when their
documents should be ready. Unnecessary requirements should be
eliminated so as not to obstruct or delay a procedure.

To get a document certifying that one resides in a certain
area in Jakarta like Menteng or Kuningan costs Rp 150,000, and in
other areas a resident's identity card costs Rp 25,000. So can
one imagine how expensive it is to get these things done!

With these things in mind it is hoped the government will take
the necessary measures to improve applying for and obtaining all
sorts of permits to ensure that high costs are abolished.
