Tachers reject move

Multa Fidrus, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Six teachers of state junior high school No.3 in Cileduk, Tangerang, said they would file a lawsuit against their headmaster for illegally trying to transfer them to other schools.

Prior to filing the lawsuit with the State Administrative Court, the six teachers, R.Latifah HS, Dani. H, Rahmah, Marsono, Baharudin and Suhaeni were trying to seek a settlement at the municipal human resources department office (BKD) on Friday.

"Tahya S. Noor, the school headmaster is trying to kick us out because we questioned him on why he did not include the fund collected annually from the student's organization (OSIS) in the school revenue and expense budget," said Marsono, on the sidelines of their meeting with the head of municipal asset and financial body.

He said each student at the school was charged Rp 18,000 by OSIS per academic year. In addition, the six teachers also asked Tahya to replace his deputy.

"The headmaster seemed unhappy with the criticism made by the teachers, so he then requested the local educational agency transfer us to other schools," Marsono added.

He said all the teachers rejected a transfer because they considered it unlawful.

Due to the unwillingness of the teachers to leave the school, the headmaster stopped registering the teachers and had threatened not to pay their salaries in December.

BKD responded to the complaints made by the teachers by stating that their salary in December could not be transferred by the headmaster to other schools. Their complaints are also awaiting Mayor M. Thamrin's decision on whether to go ahead with the transfer of the teachers and their salaries or not.
