JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has noted a steady increase in the submission of Annual Income Tax (PPh) Returns (SPT) as the deadline approaches.

Director of Education, Services, and Public Relations at DJP, Inge Diana Rismawanti, stated that as of 30 March 2026, the number of annual SPT submitted by taxpayers for the 2025 tax year reached 10,124,668 returns.

“Of this total, 8,877,779 SPT were submitted by individual employee taxpayers,” she said in an official statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Meanwhile, for taxpayers with different fiscal years who began reporting from 1 August 2025, 1,795 corporate returns in rupiah and 22 corporate returns in foreign currency were recorded.

On the other hand, DJP has also recorded a significant increase in Coretax account activations as part of the digital transformation of tax services.

As of the same period, the number of taxpayers who have activated their DJP Coretax accounts reached 17,367,922 accounts.

This increase in SPT reporting and Coretax activations demonstrates the widening adoption of digital tax services by the public.

DJP continues to encourage taxpayers to utilise digital channels to facilitate swift and efficient tax compliance.

It should be noted that taxpayers who are late in submitting their SPT or fail to submit them at all may face administrative sanctions up to criminal penalties.

Under the regulations, administrative sanctions in the form of fines are stipulated in Article 7(1). The amount of fines imposed on taxpayers who do not submit SPT includes the following:

In addition to fine sanctions, taxpayers proven to have not submitted SPT correctly may also face criminal sanctions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Therefore, the Directorate General of Taxes urges the public not to delay SPT reporting and to promptly fulfil their tax obligations before the stipulated deadline.
