Social Media Drives Shift in Preferences
Lifestyle changes are reshaping how people choose homes. Modern housing is now viewed not just as a long-term asset but as a comfortable, functional living space that adapts to daily needs.
Sedayu City’s Sales & Marketing Department Head, Fredy Siswoyo, said buyers increasingly consider emotional aspects, spatial functionality, and design details before purchasing a home.
“Many buyers no longer focus solely on investment potential but also how the home can support long-term quality of life,” Siswoyo told Media Indonesia on Monday, 25 May.
He explained this trend is particularly evident among younger buyers and first-time home purchasers, who seek homes that support various activities—from working remotely and family gatherings to comfortable rest.
Siswoyo added that social media has amplified this shift, with digital platforms inspiring home styles such as multifunctional kitchens, efficient storage solutions, and flexible layouts.
Beyond design, the surrounding environment is crucial. Integrated residential areas with recreational spaces, food zones, and open spaces are better positioned to support a balanced lifestyle.
Siswoyo noted the trend shows homes are increasingly seen as part of daily life ecosystems, not merely as dwellings or investment instruments.
“Today’s homes are part of a lifestyle ecosystem that supports everyday comfort,” he said.
