Situation in Strait of Hormuz Returns to Normal After US-Iran Exchange of Fire
Moscow (ANTARA) - The situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s coastal cities has returned to normal after an exchange of fire between Iran and the United States, according to a Press TV report on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday night, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for the Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya, stated that the US violated the ceasefire by attacking several Iranian areas, including the coast of Khamir port, Sirik city, and Qeshm Island, as well as two Iranian ships.
Iran’s armed forces immediately retaliated by attacking a US warship east of the Strait of Hormuz and south of Chabahar port, causing significant damage, he added.
In response, the US Central Command stated that US forces “eliminated incoming threats and targeted Iranian military facilities from which attacks were launched against US troops.”
According to the command, the US does not want escalation but is prepared to respond. Later that day, US President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire with Iran remains in effect.
