Sempati office burglarized
Sempati office burglarized
From Republika
In less than a year the office of Sempati Air's district general manager at Soekarno-Hatta Airport has been burgled four times, the last burglary being on Nov. 7, 1995. A number of items were stolen, including three computers and a printer, two facsimile machines, two radios, two electric typewriters and some clothing. These burglaries have occurred since we moved from Terminal A (in Terminal I) to Terminal D (in Terminal II) on the first floor.
From our observation it is clear that the first floor in Terminal D is vulnerable to burglary, either at night or during the day. The burglars might be entering the room through the ceiling. The use of fake keys has been ruled out because PT Angkasa Pura, which manages the airport, uses a special type of key for all rooms in the airport, making duplication unlikely.
In the last incident the burglars entered the room through the aluminum ventilator shaft. Unless the ventilation system is changed, the sophisticated locking system is of no use in preventing burglaries. PT Angkasa Pura has not been successful in its efforts to prevent these crimes.
