Sempati office burglarized<\/p>\n

In less than a year the office of Sempati Air's district
\ngeneral manager at Soekarno-Hatta Airport has been burgled four
\ntimes, the last burglary being on Nov. 7, 1995. A number of items
\nwere stolen, including three computers and a printer, two
\nfacsimile machines, two radios, two electric typewriters and some
\nclothing. These burglaries have occurred since we moved from
\nTerminal A (in Terminal I) to Terminal D (in Terminal II) on the
\nfirst floor.<\/p>\n
From our observation it is clear that the first floor in
\nTerminal D is vulnerable to burglary, either at night or during
\nthe day. The burglars might be entering the room through the
\nceiling. The use of fake keys has been ruled out because PT
\nAngkasa Pura, which manages the airport, uses a special type of
\nkey for all rooms in the airport, making duplication unlikely.<\/p>\n
In the last incident the burglars entered the room through the
\naluminum ventilator shaft. Unless the ventilation system is
\nchanged, the sophisticated locking system is of no use in
\npreventing burglaries. PT Angkasa Pura has not been successful in
\nits efforts to prevent these crimes.<\/p>\n
