Seminar to discuss export opportunities
JAKARTA (JP): Economist Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti and a number of foreign marketing consultants will discuss macroeconomics and overseas marketing opportunities at a three-day seminar which begins here tomorrow, the organizer said.
The National Agency for Export Development said in a statement yesterday that Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo is expected to open the seminar, called The 1996 Export Forum, at the Jakarta Fairgrounds in Central Jakarta.
The statement said the foreign consultants scheduled to address the meeting include Bruce Aitken and Paula L. of the United States, John Johnson of Belgium, Yoshio Nakamura of Japan, Raymond Yip of Hong Kong and Davis Himbara of South Africa.
The agenda of the meeting, with the theme "Stepping up the Competitive Power of Indonesian Non-oil Exports in Facing the Global Market", will comprise a plenary session on the first day, sessions on markets and products on the second day and individual consultation sessions on the final day.
Indonesian ambassadors, trade attaches and chiefs of Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers will also address the seminar to discuss marketing opportunities in the European Union, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Latin American countries and South Africa.
The discussions will be supported by market research on 24 products in 10 countries. The products include preserved foods, garments, shoes, leather products, furniture, jewelry, toys, batteries, automotive and machinery components, as well as audio- video products. (06)
