The nationwide corn harvest was held simultaneously across the country, spearheaded by President Prabowo Subianto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, with the main event taking place in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The Riau Police participated in the corn harvest event virtually from Pekanbaru City, Riau.

“The police are present to assist farmers, ensure price stability, and support the distribution of harvests to improve the welfare of the community,” said Brigadier General Hengki.
In his speech, Brigadier General Hengki stated that the Riau Police, together with fostered farmer groups, had planted corn on 1,690.37 hectares of land out of a potential 7,355.29 hectares throughout 2025. This year, the Riau Police aims to optimize the use of all potential land through strengthened synergy with the regional government, the military, and the community.
Intercropping Pattern
One of the strategic steps being promoted is the development of an intercropping pattern on 2,000 hectares of oil palm plantations to expand the productive planting area.
In this harvest, 3.8 hectares of land owned by Mr. Kahar, a farmer fostered by the Pekanbaru Police, is estimated to produce 26.6 tons of corn. Overall, the Riau Police and its ranks carried out harvests on 58.65 hectares of land, with an estimated yield of 117.30 tons of corn.
“This activity is not just about harvesting, but a real form of the police’s commitment to assisting farmers and maintaining food security as part of national security,” said Brigadier General Hengki.
On this occasion, Brigadier General Hengki appreciated the role of landowners and farmer groups who consistently support the national food security program.
“This synergy proves that together we can answer the challenges of food security in the midst of global dynamics. With a spirit of togetherness and hard work, we are confident that Riau can become a food barn that makes a significant contribution to Indonesia,” he concluded.
