Resident's Motorcycle Stolen in North Jakarta, Found in West Jakarta: Police Return it to Owner
The Tambora Police precinct successfully solved a motorcycle theft case belonging to a resident named Tedy Wijojo (55) in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. The stolen motorcycle was recovered by officers.
The theft occurred on Monday (23/2/2026), at around 4:30 PM. The victim initially parked his vehicle in front of his house, then went inside to get something.
“However, when he came back out, his beloved motorcycle was no longer there. Efforts to search around the area were unsuccessful,” said Tambora Police Chief AKP Wahyu Hidayat in a statement to reporters on Thursday (26/2).
Wahyu explained that the motorcycle was then found on Tuesday (24/2), at around 7:00 AM, on Jalan Terate Gang II, Tambora, West Jakarta. The discovery began when a team from the Tambora Police precinct conducted a routine patrol.
“Officers found a motorcycle parked suspiciously on Jalan Terate Gang II, Jembatan Lima Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta. After coordinating with the local community leader and asking residents around, no one recognized the vehicle,” he explained.
The motorcycle was then secured at the Tambora Police precinct, and the license plate number was checked through the Samsat (vehicle registration office). The results revealed the identity of the vehicle owner.
“Officers immediately contacted Tedy (the victim) to come and bring proof of ownership in the form of a vehicle registration certificate (BPKB), vehicle registration (STNK), and vehicle keys. After verification, the motorcycle was officially returned to its owner,” he said.
Wahyu also urged the public to increase their vigilance against motorcycle theft. Residents are advised to always use double locks or additional locks when parking their vehicles, both at home and in public places.
The motorcycle owner, Tedy, expressed his gratitude to the Tambora Police precinct. He said he did not expect his motorcycle to be found so quickly.
“I would like to thank the Tambora Police precinct, especially the Criminal Investigation Unit, for finding my vehicle. I am very grateful and thank you for the quick action and concern of the police officers,” he said.
