JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - In welcoming Lebaran mudik 2026, the Ministry of Transport through the Directorate General of Sea Transport officially opened registration for the Free Sea Tickets programme. Registration opens from tomorrow, Friday (6 March 2026).

‘As many as 69,232 free tickets have been prepared for the public who intend to go home by sea, spread across 97 routes serving various archipelagic regions of Indonesia, from Aceh, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku to Papua,’ said the Director General of Sea Transport, Muhammad Masyhud, in an official statement on Thursday (5 March 2026).

He said the free ticket programme is a tangible demonstration of the government’s presence for people who want to celebrate Eid with their families.

‘They want to ensure that no residents are hindered from going home due to the cost of sea transport,’ he added.

PT Belibis Papua Mandiri becomes operator with 22 sailing routes. Meanwhile, PT Pelayaran Dharma Indah serves the largest number of routes, i.e., 54 routes.

PT Pelayaran Sakti Inti Makmur operates 18 routes, followed by PT Dharma Lautan Utama which serves four sailing routes. Meanwhile, PT Jembatan Nusantara operates two sailing routes in the programme.

Registration can be made from 6 March 2026 until the quota is exhausted or until the departure date set by each operator.

‘I urge the public to register as soon as the registration channel opens. The registration process is straightforward; simply prepare your identity and follow the instructions at each operator,’ he added.

The programme also provides a range of strategic routes that form the main mudik corridors for the public in several parts of Indonesia. These routes cover the eastern to western regions of Indonesia with substantial passenger capacity.

In the Papua and West Papua region, there is the Sorong–Waisai route with a capacity of up to 1,600 passengers, and the Jayapura–Biak route which can carry around 700 passengers.

In Maluku, the shipping service covers routes to and from Ambon to various islands, such as Namlea, Ambalau, Leksula, Bula, Geser, and Gorom. In addition, there are Kendari–Raha and Kendari–Baubau routes in Southeast Sulawesi.

Then Kalianget–Kangean with a capacity of 2,000 passengers, and Jangkar–Raas which can carry up to 2,250 passengers. In addition, there are Lembar–Surabaya and Balikpapan–Parepare routes which are important interregional links.
