Qatar Airways Flights to Middle East Remain Suspended
Qatar Airways’ flight operations to the Middle East, particularly to Doha, remain temporarily suspended until today, Sunday (1 March 2026), due to the closure of Qatar’s airspace.
“Qatar Airways flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatar’s airspace,” stated an official Qatar Airways announcement on Sunday morning (1 March 2026).
The airline further noted that Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces that the country’s airspace is reopened safely.
Earlier, the temporary suspension of Qatar Airways flights to Doha was announced on Saturday (28 February 2026).
At Hamad International Airport, affected passengers are being assisted by additional ground staff deployed to handle the situation. Qatar Airways has put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure that efforts undertaken minimise passenger inconvenience during the disruption.
“The safety and welfare of our passengers and employees remain our top priority. Passengers may request refunds or change their flights within the next seven days,” stated the airline.
According to Al Jazeera, at least eight countries have announced airspace closures following the outbreak of the conflict on Saturday (28 February 2026). These countries include Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Syria has also announced that it has closed part of its southern airspace along its border with Israel for 12 hours.
As countries in the region have closed their airspace, several aircraft have been forced to divert their flight routes around Larnaca, Jeddah, Cairo, and Riyadh.
Earlier, the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, with explosions heard and seen across Tehran and other areas of the country. Several missiles have struck roads in the Jomhouri district of Tehran. Smoke was even seen billowing over the city.
Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that explosions also occurred in the Seyyed Khandan area in northern Tehran.
