President Prabowo Subianto has invited American business leaders to invest in Indonesia. The head of state delivered the message at a business summit held at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

Before the assembled business figures, Prabowo affirmed Indonesia's position as an attractive and formidable investment destination. He noted that Indonesia possesses natural resource wealth that is not only abundant but also strategically significant. However, he said, Indonesia's investment appeal does not end there.

He stated that Indonesia is currently driving accelerated industrialisation, opening up new investment opportunities across various sectors. "We are very open to investment. We need investment and we want more investment. We are confident that we are competitive and attractive," Prabowo said in the United States on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, as quoted from a statement by the Prabowo Media Team.

Prabowo explained that, in terms of natural resources, Indonesia holds reserves of critical minerals such as nickel, copper, and bauxite, which are essential raw materials for the technology sector. "I believe we have strength in critical minerals. I have also received reports that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest rare earth reserves in the world," Prabowo said.

On the industrialisation front, Prabowo stated that Indonesia is now focused on downstream processing of natural resources. He cited as an example that the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) would initiate 18 downstream processing projects this year, including a waste-to-energy project worth US$3 billion, or approximately Rp50.4 trillion.

"We continue to advance in industrial downstream processing, where Danantara serves as the primary driving force. We are moving very quickly in these sectors," he said.

Nevertheless, Prabowo added that Indonesia remains committed to maintaining the investment climate through regulatory certainty, law enforcement, and good governance. For Prabowo, these factors are key to attracting foreign investment interest. "For business leaders, certainty is the most important thing. Nobody wants to invest in a situation or atmosphere filled with uncertainty, instability, or even chaos," Prabowo said.
