Tapanuli Tengah - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to overseeing the recovery process in disaster-affected areas, from Aceh to West Sumatra. General Sigit ensured that all response measures, from logistics distribution to infrastructure repairs, must run optimally for the safety of residents.

The remarks were made during the National Police Chief’s visit to temporary shelters at the Pinangsori Hajj Dormitory in Central Tapanuli Regency on Sunday (2/15/2026). The National Police Chief was accompanied by Commission IV DPR Chairwoman Siti Hediati Hariyadi, also known as Titiek Soeharto.

“I have ordered all ranks to remain on standby to anticipate potential subsequent disasters. The police will continue to be present to ensure the safety of residents and that post-disaster recovery runs optimally,” General Sigit affirmed.

As a tangible form of support for communities during the recovery period, the National Police Chief and the Commission IV DPR Chairwoman symbolically handed over 16 trucks of humanitarian aid. The assistance is intended for evacuees currently residing in temporary shelters to ensure their basic needs continue to be met.

“During the event, 16 trucks of humanitarian social assistance were distributed to support post-disaster community recovery,” he added.

A total of 16 social service trucks were deployed to distribute aid in Central Tapanuli. The trucks contained basic necessities, clothing, school uniforms, children’s toys, stationery, cement, mosque carpets, sarongs, prayer garments, Qurans, clean water tanker trucks, and mobile water treatment units.

This humanitarian action is part of the National Police Chief’s broader agenda in the Sumatra region. Previously, at the North Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters, General Sigit also dispatched 22 containers of aid targeting approximately 40,000 beneficiaries in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Beyond logistics, the recovery focus also extends to vital infrastructure. Virtually, the National Police Chief monitored the construction of two Bailey Bridges in Agam Regency, West Sumatra — the Subarang Aia Bridge (90% progress) and the Sawah Laweh Bridge (60% progress).

“This is part of our effort to continue caring for our communities that are still affected. This is also a manifestation of the state’s presence,” the National Police Chief explained.

To ensure the smooth running of this humanitarian operation, several senior officials from National Police Headquarters were present, including Head of the Police Security Intelligence Agency Commissioner General Yuda Gustawan, National Police Mobile Brigade Corps Commander Commissioner General Imam Widodo, National Police Chief’s Operations Assistant Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran, and Head of the Police Medical and Health Center Inspector General Asep Hendradiana.

Also present was North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, who gave his full support for the collaborative efforts between the police and regional government in handling the disaster impact in his province.

Commission IV DPR Chairwoman Titiek Soeharto also expressed her appreciation for the police’s swift response. She hopes this synergy can accelerate the normalization of the social and economic lives of communities disrupted by the disasters.
