Police Ban Sahur on the Road in Makassar
Makassar, CNN Indonesia – The Makassar Metropolitan Police have banned sahur on the road convoys during the holy month of Ramadan in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
Makassar Metropolitan Police Chief Comr. Arya Perdana firmly stated there will be no sahur on the road during Ramadan in Makassar.
“There won’t be any sahur on the road. We will conduct joint patrols,” Arya told reporters on Sunday (15/2).
Arya said that for two religious holiday events—Lunar New Year and Ramadan—his office will deploy approximately 300 personnel for security operations.
“The number of personnel is the usual 300 deployed. We will station them at several temples,” he said.
They will also secure locations that will host lion dance (barongsai) performances at several points across Makassar.
“We have prepared security at the locations where barongsai performances will take place,” he explained.
As for security during the holy month of Ramadan, Arya said a number of officers will be stationed at mosques to ensure worship activities proceed safely and smoothly.
“We will provide security at mosques. There will be a special operation,” he concluded.
