Makassar, CNN Indonesia \u2013 The Makassar Metropolitan Police have\nbanned sahur on the road convoys during the holy month of Ramadan in\nMakassar, South Sulawesi.<\/p>\n
Makassar Metropolitan Police Chief Comr. Arya Perdana firmly stated\nthere will be no sahur on the road during Ramadan in Makassar.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere won\u2019t be any sahur on the road. We will conduct joint\npatrols,\u201d Arya told reporters on Sunday (15\/2).<\/p>\n
Arya said that for two religious holiday events\u2014Lunar New Year and\nRamadan\u2014his office will deploy approximately 300 personnel for security\noperations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe number of personnel is the usual 300 deployed. We will station\nthem at several temples,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
They will also secure locations that will host lion dance (barongsai)\nperformances at several points across Makassar.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have prepared security at the locations where barongsai\nperformances will take place,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
As for security during the holy month of Ramadan, Arya said a number\nof officers will be stationed at mosques to ensure worship activities\nproceed safely and smoothly.<\/p>\n
