South Sumatra Police (Polda Sumsel) has carried out home renovations and distributed social aid to communities in Musi Rawas Utara (Muratara) regency. The initiative forms part of the national police’s efforts to support government development agendas and bolster social resilience in remote areas.

“We are committed to fully supporting government programmes for the welfare of the people. Polda Sumsel, along with all its units, will continue to implement humanitarian programmes that directly address residents’ needs and strengthen the relationship between the police and the community,” said Polda Sumsel Public Affairs Chief Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya in a written statement on Monday (25 May 2026).

The humanitarian activity took place today in Lawang Agung Village, Rupit District, Muratara Regency. During the event, Muratara Police Department handed over renovated homes for two residents previously living in uninhabitable conditions.

The beneficiaries were Elya Rosa in Dusun VII and Yastri Turzaini in Dusun VIII, Lawang Agung Village. In addition to the full home renovations, Polda Sumsel distributed food parcels to assist the economic needs of recipient families.

Nandang stated the programme follows directives from South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, urging all regional police units to actively support government initiatives to alleviate poverty and improve public welfare.

The activity was led by the Deputy Police Chief of Musi Rawas Utara, representing Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Rendy Surya Aditama. It also involved the military through Rupit’s Koramil unit, Muratara Regency government, local community leaders, and religious figures.

He noted that this cross-sector synergy demonstrates strong collaboration between the military, police, local government, and communities in supporting inclusive and sustainable development. Through such initiatives, the police are not only law enforcers but also drivers of social compassion.

Nandang added that the home renovation and social aid programmes directly improve beneficiaries’ quality of life. He expressed hope that decent housing and essential aid would strengthen family social resilience while fostering community solidarity.

He further stated that social welfare improvements through solid cross-sector collaboration would enhance public security and order.

Polda Sumsel confirmed that similar social and humanitarian activities will continue across its jurisdiction as part of public service enhancement and implementation of the Polri Presisi programme.

Meanwhile, Muratara Police Department affirmed that social activities will be sustained as a demonstration of police commitment to supporting communities in need.
