The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, together with PT PLN (Persero), directly inspected the operations of electrical infrastructure in preparation for the peak Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri mudik flow. This inspection covers the readiness of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) to ensure that journeys for mudik travellers using electric vehicles (EVs) remain safe and comfortable.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot, while conducting checks at the SPKLU in the Rest Area at KM 379A Batang, Central Java, stated that the national electricity supply is in a safe condition with adequate power reserves.

“In preparation for the Eid al-Fitr electricity alert in 2026, in terms of national power availability (around) 52 gigawatts, and the peak load around 35 GW, while the reserve we still have around 17 gigawatts or the condition is safe,” said Yuliot.

Yuliot added that besides maintaining the reliability of the electricity supply, PLN is also continuously strengthening support for EV mudik travellers through the expansion of the SPKLU network and improvements in charging technology to make journeys more efficient.

PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, emphasised the company’s readiness to maintain electricity supply during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr alert period.

“Preparations have been carried out well in advance, from generation, transmission, to distribution. In line with the Government’s directives through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, PLN is ready to maintain electricity supply, including electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to remain reliable and optimal for the public,” said Darmawan.

Meanwhile, PLN’s Director of Retail and Commerce, Adi Priyanto, revealed that the use of electric vehicles during mudik is increasing significantly.

“Along with the increasing adoption of EVs in Indonesia, PLN continues to accelerate the development of its charging infrastructure. Thus, the public does not need to doubt or worry about running out of power during journeys, especially during mudik moments like this,” said Adi.

To support this surge, PLN along with partners has provided 4,769 SPKLU units at 3,097 locations across Indonesia with an average distance between SPKLUs of around 22 kilometres. Specifically on the main mudik routes of Trans Sumatra, Java, and Bali, there are 1,681 SPKLU units at 994 locations, an increase of around 70 percent compared to the previous Eid al-Fitr period.

PLN has also prepared 15 mobile SPKLU units at strategic toll exit points to serve emergency charging needs. In addition, more than 5,000 personnel have been mobilised to ensure optimal SPKLU operations during the mudik period.

“Besides infrastructure readiness, to support this mudik period we have also mobilised more than 5,000 personnel tasked with ensuring SPKLUs function optimally and electric vehicle services run smoothly,” Adi continued.

On the service side, PLN has also enhanced user comfort through strengthened charging technology from standard charging to fast charging and ultra-fast charging. Additionally, the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature in the PLN Mobile app has been optimised, including the Trip Planner and AntreEV features to help users plan journeys and monitor queues in real time.

Transaction convenience has also been improved through the EV-TAP service, which allows payments using electronic cards at several SPKLUs on the Trans Java mudik route.

“Various conveniences we provide for customers, including if there are electric vehicle users who need assistance, they can simply report through the PLN Mobile app or the SPKLU service hotline via WhatsApp number 087-77-1112-123, which can be accessed 24 hours,” Adi concluded.
