Minister Urges Even Distribution of Eid Holiday Travel
Serang — Indonesia’s Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, hopes that the movement of people during this year’s Eid holiday can be distributed evenly and not concentrate only on the peak day.
This statement was made by Pratikno following a coordination meeting and inspection of travel readiness at Merak Port, Cilegon City, Banten, on Friday.
He explained that the extended holiday period is supported by policies for consecutive weekends combined with flexible working arrangements for civil servants, joint leave, the celebration of Nyepi Day, and Eid al-Fitr.
The implementation of flexible work schemes (working from anywhere) and adjustments to school schedules lasting until 30 March are expected to reduce congestion during both the outbound and return travel periods.
Regarding infrastructure and service readiness, the Minister assured that all relevant parties have confirmed their preparedness. He noted that many innovations have been introduced to the services this year to maintain the high level of public satisfaction recorded in the previous year.
Despite thorough preparations, Pratikno emphasised the importance of anticipating unforeseen circumstances in the field, such as extreme weather conditions.
He asked all stakeholders to continue collaborating, work responsibly, and provide courteous service to travellers.
“This is our collective work,” he said. “We also urge the public to always follow government regulations and instructions from officials in the field, so that outbound and return travel can run safely, comfortably, smoothly, and successfully.”
