Fadli stated that the preservation of culture through museums and cultural heritage sites is a crucial foundation for safeguarding the nation’s collective memory. This is to maintain the noble values and integrity of the Nusantara cultural heritage.

He explained that museums and cultural heritage sites must actively engage in the preservation process up to educating on historical values to remain relevant for future generations.

“Within our museums and cultural heritage sites are stored traces of the Indonesian nation’s historical journey, the history of past civilisations, the dynamics of forming national identity, and important milestones that shape our Indonesia today. Amid the rapid currents of changing times, the role of cultural preservation will become increasingly relevant,” said Fadli in a written statement on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

He elaborated that the management of museums and cultural heritage has become increasingly crucial along with the growing public interest in historical and cultural education. The management of cultural heritage sites and museums also opens opportunities for the cultural economy and creative industries, where the trend of public visits to museums is increasing every year, thus providing optimism for the sustainability of ancestral heritage preservation.

“Therefore, the management of museums and cultural heritage is not merely administrative, but also part of the ecosystem for preserving history and national identity. And in that context, the existence of the BLU Supervisory Board becomes very strategic as a pillar of professional governance, strengthening accountability, and driving national independence,” he stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the Nusantara cultural heritage, in line with the mandate of Article 32 Paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution. Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the Ministry of Culture is committed to implementing the constitutional mandate, where museums and cultural heritage sites serve as the main pillars for nurturing the nation’s noble values. Therefore, strengthening adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable governance becomes a strategic step in protecting and utilising cultural heritage for the wider community.
