Man Who Assaulted Petrol Station Employees in Cipinang Was Intoxicated During the Incident
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - JMH, the perpetrator who assaulted three employees at a Pertamina petrol station in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
“The results of the examination showed that the perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol, in a state of diminished consciousness. Before arriving at the petrol station, the suspect was already intoxicated,” said the Head of the East Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Pol Alfian Nurrizal, during a press conference on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
In addition, the police also found indications that the perpetrator was using narcotics. This was revealed because the perpetrator’s statements changed during questioning.
“During the interrogation, the answers we received were inconsistent and unclear, or as I would say, he kept changing his story,” said Alfian.
For his actions, the perpetrator is charged with Article 466 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 471 of the Criminal Code regarding assault, with a maximum prison sentence of two years and six months.
Previously, three employees of a Pertamina petrol station in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, were allegedly assaulted by a customer while refueling on Sunday (23/2/2026) evening.
The petrol station staff, Mukhlisin (38), explained that the incident began when the customer wanted to fill up with Pertalite, but the vehicle used did not match the data on the barcode.
“Actually, the customer was filling up with Pertalite, and the barcode number was correct, but the car did not match the image displayed on the EDC (Electronic Data Capture) device. According to the rules, the number on the license plate and the car must match the information on the petrol station’s EDC,” said Mukhlisin.
According to him, the staff then suggested that the customer fill up with Pertamax according to the standard operating procedure (SOP). However, the customer became angry.
“The customer claimed that ‘This is a general’s car.’ In the video, he also said ‘police chief.’ There was a narrative, and he said the words ‘police chief’ when he was shouting,” he said.
The police confirmed that JMH is not a police officer as previously claimed by the perpetrator.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the perpetrator is a civilian who works as an entrepreneur.
“The perpetrator, with the initials JMH, has been secured and it is confirmed that he is not a member of the police, but a civilian who works as an entrepreneur,” said Budi.
