Lenteng Agung Road Collapse: Traffic Diversion Measures Implemented
DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has implemented traffic diversions following a road collapse on Lenteng Agung Raya Road in South Jakarta. The incident occurred near Empang Alley, in front of Alpino Exhaust Workshop.
The measures aim to minimise severe traffic congestion and prioritise the safety of road users in the area.
“We understand that community activities have been disrupted by the road collapse. Therefore, traffic management and diversion are being implemented to reduce congestion while ensuring road users’ safety,” said Acting Head of DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Ujang Hermawan, in Jakarta on Friday (29 May).
The closure of two lanes has caused congestion towards Depok and surrounding areas. The agency apologised for the inconvenience.
“We also apologise for the discomfort caused,” Hermawan added.
Authorities urged the public to monitor their travel routes and comply with on-site officers’ instructions.
“We ask the public to exercise caution when passing the area and use alternative routes where possible,” he added.
Traffic arrangements include:
Two-wheelers: Permitted to use the rightmost lane on Lenteng Agung Raya Road. In some cases, diverted via Gardu Road – H. Shibi IV Road – H. Shibi II Road – H. Shibi Road – UI Access Road.
Four-wheelers heading to UI/Depok: Directed to turn around at the Universitas Pancasila Railway Crossing (JPL 23), then proceed via Lenteng Agung Barat Road – Kahfi II Road – Tanah Baru Road – Depok Sawangan.
Heavy vehicles (trucks/buses): Diverted west via Desari Toll Road from TB Simatupang Junction, or east via Bogor Main Road or Jagorawi Toll Road.
The road collapse, which began gradually from Wednesday (27 May), was initially mitigated with cold-mix asphalt by the South Jakarta Sub-District Public Works Office.
The South Jakarta Sub-District Public Works Office is coordinating closely with the South Jakarta Sub-District Water Resources Office to determine the root cause. It is suspected that underground drainage system issues triggered the collapse.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government confirmed ongoing on-site monitoring to expedite repairs and restore normal traffic flow. (Ant/E-4)
