Jakarta - The Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), General (Ret.) TNI Dudung Abdurrachman, stated that the government is targeting the revitalisation of 71,000 educational units in 2026.

“Moving forward, by 2026, 71,000 schools will be built,” added Dudung during his inspection of the revitalisation results at SMP Muhammadiyah 16, Paseban, Senen Subdistrict, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

“Only 11,000 schools have budget allocations ready, and the rest will be covered by Additional Budget Expenditure (ABT),” he said.

Dudung claimed that in 2025, the government had revitalised 16,167 schools across Indonesia, including SMP Muhammadiyah 16.

“In total, this programme has absorbed more than 380,000 jobs—imagine that. So, many job opportunities have now opened up,” he stated.

For this year, Dudung promised to regularly check the progress of revitalisation at each school to ensure that the funds are absorbed transparently and effectively.

“Moving forward, I will continue to verify whether the donations received are being implemented properly,” he added.

Previously, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, requested additional budget for the educational unit revitalisation programme in Indonesia.

For the 2026 fiscal year, the Ministry of Education has allocated revitalisation for approximately 11,470 educational units in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

Since the national target for revitalising educational units in 2026 has surged to around 71,000 schools, the government is seeking to add funding for another 60,000 units.

If approved, the total number of revitalised educational units in 2026 will exceed 71,000 schools.
