Kemkomdigi Reveals Three Mobile Operators Participating in 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz Frequency Auction
Jakarta (ANTARA) - In its latest announcement regarding the development of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz frequency auction, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has revealed that the three mobile operators operating in Indonesia, namely XLSmart, Indosat, and Telkomsel, are participating in the auction.
The participation of these three mobile operators is evidenced by the collection of e-Auction accounts on Wednesday-Thursday (29-30 April 2026) at the Ministry of Comdigi office in Central Jakarta.
“Subsequently, the Telecommunications Providers that have obtained the e-Auction system account can download the Selection Documents. The Telecommunications Providers can study the Selection Documents and prepare a list of questions if there is any substance in the Selection Documents that is not well understood,” states the official statement from Kemkomdigi received on Tuesday.
The Selection Documents can be downloaded until 7 May 2026 at 15:00 WIB by the mobile operators, and once the documents are downloaded, the downloaders are referred to as Prospective Selection Participants.
The deadline for submitting questions to the Government is Friday (8/5) at 15:00 WIB.
The Government is opening the auction for the selection of users of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz radio frequency bands to expand the reach of telecommunications services using 4G and 5G mobile technology to remote areas.
This is stipulated in the Minister of Communication and Digital Decree No. 175 of 2026 on the Selection of Users of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz Radio Frequency Bands for the Purpose of Providing Mobile Cellular Networks in 2026.
“With the formation of the selection team through the Ministerial Decree yesterday, this process (frequency auction) has officially begun. The hope, of course, is how the expansion of 4G and 5G services can be felt more widely to remote areas,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid at the Kemkomdigi office in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4).
The 700 MHz radio frequency band is a low-band radio frequency known as the digital dividend because it is produced after the completion of the migration from analogue to digital television broadcasting (Analogue Switch Off/ASO).
This radio frequency has a very wide signal coverage and the ability to penetrate solid physical obstacles such as buildings.
The 2.6 GHz radio frequency band is a mid-band frequency that is ideal for supporting channel capacity and large-scale data transmission speeds such as 5G technology.
