Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has targeted the Jakarta MRT East-West line phase 1 to begin serving the public in 2030. This phase 1 of the Jakarta MRT East-West line will connect Tomang in West Jakarta to Medan Satria in Bekasi. Currently, the MRT Phase 3 project is still in the land acquisition and station site determination stages. “The DKI Jakarta Government is now continuing progress on the East-West MRT. In several segments, land acquisition, route setting, station site determination, and so on are underway,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Pramono hopes the initial construction stage of the East-West MRT can proceed smoothly so that operations can start in 2030. “Hopefully, if this runs smoothly, the first segment can be enjoyed in 2030 for East-West,” he said. For context, the Jakarta MRT East-West line stretches approximately 84 kilometres from Cikarang in West Java to Balaraja in Banten, passing through Jakarta. The corridor route is divided into two phases: phase 1 from Kembangan to Medan Satria, spanning 33.7 kilometres, and phase 2 from Balaraja to Kembangan and Medan Satria to Cikarang, with a total length of about 50 kilometres. Construction of phase 1 will be carried out in two stages: stage 1 from Tomang to Medan Satria, 24.5 kilometres long, and stage 2 from Kembangan to Tomang, about 9 kilometres. This line will also connect to the Rorotan depot with an additional track of around 5.7 kilometres. The areas to be served by the East-West MRT Line include: Director of Construction at PT MRT Jakarta, Weni Maulina, stated that the first construction stage will be in the Jakarta area with the route from Tomang to Medan Satria. “The first area to be built is what we call phase 1, stage 1, within the Jakarta region, the route from Tomang to Medan Satria,” Weni said at the Journalists’ Forum at Transport Hub, Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (27/1/2026).
