Bontang, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The investment climate in Bontang City, East Kalimantan, is becoming increasingly attractive to investors, as evidenced by the achievement exceeding the target, recorded at 123.23 per cent in 2025, namely from the initial target set at Rp2.5 trillion, successfully realised at Rp3.08 trillion.

“Not only that, this achievement also reflects significant growth of 13.66 per cent compared to the 2024 investment realisation,” said the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) of Bontang City, Muhammad Aspian Nur, in Bontang on Wednesday.

This 2025 investment realisation exceeding the target, he continued, also shows that Bontang City is increasingly trusted by investors both domestic and foreign.

From the total realisation, investment is still dominated by Domestic Investment (PMDN) reaching Rp3.02 trillion. Meanwhile, Foreign Investment (PMA) is worth Rp54.11 billion.

This investment achievement comes from 323 projects realised by 81 large business actors, thus showing fairly dynamic investment activity and the continuity of strategic projects in the area.

“For PMA, there are two main sectors dominating the 2025 investment realisation, namely housing, followed by industrial and office areas. These two sectors indicate that Bontang is not only developing as an industrial city, but also beginning to show attractiveness in the services and hospitality sectors,” he said.

Meanwhile, for PMDN, the investment structure is dominated by the processing industry sector, specifically the basic chemical industry, chemical goods, and pharmaceuticals with a contribution of 85.96 per cent.

Followed by the trade and repair sector (5.18 per cent), basic metal industry, metal goods, not machinery (3.16 per cent), other service enterprises (2.32 per cent), hotels and restaurants (1.12 per cent).

“The dominance of the chemical industry sector reinforces Bontang’s characteristics as a strategic industrial area in East Kalimantan, supported by the presence of large industries and their supporting ecosystem,” said Aspian Nur.

Meanwhile, the distribution of investment per sub-district in Bontang is for North Bontang Sub-district Rp1.17 trillion or 98.94 per cent, West Bontang Rp9.36 billion or 0.79 per cent, and South Bontang Sub-district Rp3.2 billion or a contribution of 0.27 per cent.
