Indonesia's Car Exports in April 2026: CBU Declines, CKD Rises
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s automotive export performance in April 2026 continued to show resilience amid a global market slowdown. Although exports of completely built-up (CBU) vehicles declined compared to the previous month, the completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle segment recorded a significant surge. According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), CBU exports in the early second quarter of 2026 totalled 36,207 units, a 1.8% decrease from the 36,867 units achieved in March 2026. Meanwhile, CKD exports posted more positive results. Throughout April 2026, total shipments reached 6,819 set units, up 35.4% from 5,038 set units in March 2026. On a year-on-year basis, CKD exports also rose 15% from the same period last year, which recorded 5,924 set units. Automotive component exports amounted to 10,328,460 pieces, a substantial 33.9% decline from March 2026’s 15,629,731 pieces. Nevertheless, on an annual basis, component exports still grew 18.4% compared to April 2025, which stood at 8,723,878 pieces. From the manufacturers’ side, Toyota remained the largest contributor to CBU exports with a total of 12,736 units. The next position was held by Daihatsu with 9,652 units and Mitsubishi Motors with 7,345 units. Hyundai followed with 3,727 units, followed by Honda with 1,056 units and Suzuki with 1,045 units. Meanwhile, Isuzu recorded 477 units, Wuling 118 units, and Hino 51 units. In the CKD segment, Mitsubishi Motors continued to dominate with 4,528 set units.
