Indonesia and EU Officially Establish EU Desk at Investment Ministry
JAKARTA, investor.id - Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani confirmed that the Indonesian Government and the European Union have officially established an EU Desk at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM. The confirmation came following his signing of a cooperation agreement with the EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Denis Chaibi.
Rosan explained that the EU Desk will serve as a coordination and investment platform for EU member states in supporting Indonesia's downstreaming agenda, green transition, and technology development initiatives.
"Indonesia and the European Union have formalised the establishment of the EU Desk within the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM," Rosan stated on Sunday (15/6/2025).
Rosan emphasised that this development is aligned with efforts to accelerate the completion of negotiations for the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), which holds significant potential to open broader market access.
According to information gathered, the EU is supporting the EU Desk through the EU-Indonesia Cooperation Facility (EUICF), and it will be housed within the offices of the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM.
The EU Desk will facilitate discussions on investment policies between EU investors and regulators, identify potential projects, and offer assistance for business development. Furthermore, the EU Desk will serve as a bridge to financial institutions of EU member states and private investors in driving domestic investment mobilisation.
"This partnership reflects a new spirit in Indonesia's future-oriented economic diplomacy," he concluded.
Previously, Minister Rosan had stated that Indonesia holds a highly attractive strategic position for global investors, particularly those from Europe. With Europe's expertise, technology, and resources, combined with Indonesia's abundant potential and dynamic market, both parties have significant opportunities to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
