In an Unoccupied Hut, Entikong Customs Officials Discover Hundreds of Thousands of Cigarettes Without Excise Stamps
The synergy among law enforcement agencies in combating illegal cigarettes in border areas has once again yielded results. Entikong Customs, along with TNI personnel and a joint intelligence team, thwarted the distribution of cigarettes without excise stamps in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region on Friday (27/3/2026).
The Head of the Entikong Customs Office, Rudi Endro Pratikto, stated that the integrated operation involved personnel from Entikong Customs, the RI-MLY Border Task Force of Battalion Arhanud 1/PBC/1 Kostrad, Intel Satgas, BAIS TNI, SGI TNI, Intel Korem 121/ABW, and Unit Inteldim 1204/SGU in Dusun Entabang, Desa Pala Pasang, Kecamatan Entikong, Kabupaten Sanggau.
During the joint patrol, according to Rudi, officers discovered an unoccupied hut suspected to be a storage site for smuggled goods.
“Inside, the officers found ownerless items consisting of illegal cigarettes believed to originate from Malaysia. Subsequently, the officers secured and transported all the goods to the Entikong Customs Office for further examination,” he explained in a statement on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
The total seized goods amounted to 80 cartons of cigarettes without excise stamps, detailed as 74 cartons of Era Flavor cigarettes totalling 740,000 sticks and 6 cartons of Win Mild cigarettes totalling 76,800 sticks.
Although no perpetrators were found at the location, the illegal goods are suspected of violating Law No. 39 of 2007 on Excise. The officers proceeded with the seizure for further investigation.
“This firm action by Entikong Customs and the TNI is expected to suppress smuggling practices and protect state revenues in the excise sector. This inter-agency collaboration demonstrates increasingly solid supervision in the border region,” Rudi concluded.
