Efforts to accelerate post-disaster recovery in Sumatra continue to show significant progress. This is evident from the near completion of the construction of 163 temporary housing units (huntara) in Lubuk Sidup Village, Sekerak Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency.

The Head of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that physically, the huntara are ready to be occupied, with electricity networks already installed and awaiting activation. Meanwhile, clean water needs are being prepared through the construction of boreholes by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

“This is the huntara built by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure (Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono), 163 units for the Lubuk Sidup community. We see the location is very good, with elevation. Electricity is already connected, just needs to be switched on. For drinking water, clean water is being provided using boreholes from BNPB,” Tito said in a written statement on Sunday (5/4/2026).

Satgas PRR targets all supporting facilities, including clean water and electricity activation, to be completed within the next 10 days. After that, the community will be allowed to occupy the prepared housing as an initial step to start a new, more decent and safe life.

In addition to housing construction, the government has also distributed various supporting aids to survivors. The aid includes meal allowances of Rp 15,000 per person per day, economic assistance of Rp 5 million per family, and household furniture aid of Rp 3 million, to ensure the sustainability of the community’s life during the post-disaster recovery period.

Overall, the progress of huntara construction in the three provinces affected by hydrometeorological disasters also shows encouraging achievements. From a total planned construction of 19,135 huntara units, 17,084 units have been completed, equivalent to 89 per cent overall progress.

This achievement reaffirms Satgas PRR’s commitment to accelerating comprehensive post-disaster recovery, not only from a physical perspective but also from social and economic aspects for the affected communities.

For information, during the inspection of huntara in Lubuk Sidup Village, Tito was accompanied by the Director General of Regional Administration Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Safrizal ZA, Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah, Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Pahmi, and officials from the Forkopimda of Aceh Tamiang Regency.
