Hundreds of students in Pilangwetan Village, Kebonagung Subdistrict, Demak, are suspected of being poisoned by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu. The Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Pilangwetan has been temporarily halted and cordoned off by police.

The head of Kebonagung Health Centre, Arief Setiawan, confirmed that his facility had treated several patients suspected of MBG poisoning. In addition to those treated at the Kebonagung Health Centre, Arief mentioned that other MBG beneficiaries were referred to several hospitals.

“Those at the Kebonagung Health Centre included several victims experiencing nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. The health centre treated five people, but after stabilisation, they were allowed to go home, so only outpatient care was provided,” said Arief when met by detikJateng at the Kebonagung Health Centre, as reported by detikJateng on Sunday (19/4/2026).

“Others were referred to three hospitals, namely PKU Muhammadiyah Gubug Hospital, Getas Pendowo Hospital, and Sultan Fatah Karangawen Hospital,” he added.

In addition to the students, victims also included members of the B3 group (pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers). The total number suspected of poisoning is estimated at 187 people.

“At Bustanul Quran Islamic Boarding School, 68 people were affected, consisting of 33 receiving outpatient treatment at the boarding school, 23 referred to PKU Gubug Hospital, and 12 to Getas Pendowo Hospital. At Asnawiyah Islamic Boarding School, 97 people were affected, consisting of 67 receiving outpatient treatment, 24 referred to Getas Pendowo, and 6 to PKU Gubug,” he said.

“The B3 victims numbered five, with one referred to PKU Gubug, and four treated at the health centre and receiving outpatient care,” he added.

Observations by detikJateng yesterday showed that the SPPG building in Pilangwetan was cordoned off with police tape. Operations at the SPPG have been temporarily stopped.
