JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Indonesian Hajj pilgrims for 2026 are confirmed to receive pocket money (living cost) of 750 Riyals or approximately Rp 3.3 million per person (assuming an exchange rate of 1 Riyal at around Rp 4,500) to support their needs during their stay in the Holy Land.

The funds come from the banknote allocation by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) amounting to 152.49 million Saudi Riyals or equivalent to about Rp 686-690 billion. These funds are channelled through PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk to 203,320 regular Hajj pilgrims.

BPKH Executive Board Member Amri Yusuf stated that each pilgrim will receive a living allowance of 750 Riyals or equivalent to around Rp 3.3 million.

“The principal amount is handed over in cash, while distribution costs are paid after all obligations of the providers are fulfilled. This is a form of high transparency in Hajj financial governance,” Amri said in an official statement on Friday (10/4/2026).

The pocket money will be distributed in denominations of one 500 Riyal note, two 100 Riyal notes, and one 50 Riyal note. These funds can be used for additional consumption needs, emergency funds, and payment of dam during the Hajj pilgrimage.

BPKH ensures that the procurement of foreign currency is carried out in accordance with Law No. 34 of 2014 on Hajj Financial Management, using the sharf akad scheme or spot cash currency exchange in accordance with Sharia principles.

“In this Sharia scheme, we separate the principal currency value from the distribution costs,” Amri said.

A shortfall of around Rp 33.2 million is covered from the benefits of Hajj fund management by BPKH, thus keeping the pilgrims’ burden lighter.

“This is concrete evidence that Hajj funds are managed professionally to ease the pilgrims’ burden,” Amri stated.

He added that if there is an increase in costs due to global dynamics, pilgrims will not be burdened with additional fees. Any cost shortfalls can be covered through the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) in accordance with the President’s directives.

With this pocket money, BPKH reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the financial readiness of pilgrims so they can perform their Hajj worship with greater peace of mind.
