Jakarta (ANTARA) - Golkar Party’s Central Executive Board Economic Policy Secretary Abdul Rahman Farisi assessed that President Prabowo Subianto’s policies have led Indonesia to achieve energy resilience.

“I see the President’s authority being used appropriately and directed by appointing the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). This position is then strengthened by the formation of the Task Force for Accelerating Downstreaming and Energy Resilience, established through a Presidential Decree in early January 2025,” Abdul said in Jakarta on Thursday.

He stated that the task force has the mandate to accelerate the downstreaming of natural resources, including energy and minerals, while coordinating cross-ministerial policies for greater integration.

“In this structure, the Minister of ESDM holds a key position as chair of the Task Force, ensuring policies are not fragmented,” Abdul remarked.

The President has also reinforced the Minister of ESDM’s role in the architecture of energy resilience through the National Energy Council (DEN), previously established under Law No. 30 of 2007 on Energy, with the Minister of ESDM serving as the Council’s Daily Chairman.

“With this integrated institutional design, Indonesia’s energy sector is now more adaptive in responding to global dynamics,” Abdul added.

Furthermore, he noted that Indonesia’s success in achieving energy resilience is reflected in the JPMorgan Asset & Wealth Management report titled Pandora’s Box: The Global Energy Shock of 2026, which ranks Indonesia second in the world for resilience against global energy price shocks.

Abdul emphasised that this achievement demonstrates that the institutional design, technocratic policy planning, and policy execution in the energy sector are proceeding effectively and measurably.

“This accomplishment shows that the steps taken are able to produce tangible impacts,” Abdul stated.

This achievement, he said, was not attained by chance but is the result of a mature design, policy innovation, and consistent execution.

According to Abdul, amid global geopolitical uncertainties, Indonesia’s relatively stable position serves as crucial capital in maintaining the sustainability of national economic growth.

However, he cautioned that future challenges must still be anticipated, particularly in ensuring domestic energy availability and reducing reliance on imports.

“The public must provide opportunities and support the steps and policies of the Ministry of ESDM in ensuring the availability of fuel oil, stabilising subsidised fuel prices, and adjusting non-subsidised fuel prices,” Abdul said.
