Garut Youth Group Volunteers to Hand Over Noisy Motorcycle Exhausts to Police
A group of youths in Bungbulang District, Garut Regency, West Java, voluntarily handed over dozens of loud motorcycle exhausts to the police as a demonstration of concern to maintain order, safety, and comfort for the public, especially road users.
‘As many as 60 loud exhausts were handed over voluntarily by members of OKP (youth organisations) as a form of collective awareness to maintain public order and comfort,’ said Bungbulang Police Chief AKP Priyo Sumbodo when receiving the handover of the loud exhausts in Garut, on Thursday.
He explained that the police have long sought to create a secure and orderly environment, including eradicating the use of loud exhausts to enhance road user comfort.
At present, he said, his force is not carrying out enforcement actions; rather, the youth group came voluntarily to hand over their loud exhausts to the police.
‘This step demonstrates the synergy between the police and youth elements in supporting the creation of a safe environment, especially during the holy month of Ramadan,’ he said.
He urged all elements of society, especially young people, to always safeguard security and public order, including keeping their surroundings free from loud motorcycle exhausts and from motor vehicle theft.
The current youth movement deserves praise for showing a positive action by volunteering to hand over loud exhausts as a sign of shared concern in maintaining comfort.
‘We hope this step can become a positive example for other communities to join in maintaining order; the synergy formed is expected to further strengthen solidarity between the police and the community,’ he added.
Besides the Bungbulang area, enforcement against loud exhausts has also been carried out at several police sectors within Garut Regency to maintain public order and comfort.
One of them, Kadungora Police Sector, has seized 17 loud exhausts as a result of enforcement operations on several roads in the Kadungora area, which will subsequently be destroyed.
‘All evidence will be secured for further processing in accordance with the applicable regulations,’ said Kadungora Police Chief Kompol Alit Kadarusman.
