“We affirm that the deployment of Indonesian peacekeeping forces to Gaza is currently suspended and all discussions related to the Board of Peace remain on hold,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nabyl A. Mulachela to ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.
This statement was issued in response to reports regarding the deployment of international forces in the Gaza Strip, which were reported to begin in May.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson reiterated that any possible Indonesian participation in the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) remains entirely under Indonesia’s national control and is based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025) and Indonesia’s free and active foreign policy, national interests and international law.
“Indonesia’s participation in the International Stabilisation Force is entirely under Indonesia’s national control, based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), and aligned with our free and active foreign policy, national interests and international law,” Mulachela stated.
On 15 March, Anadolu reported that according to Israel’s public broadcasting agency KAN, Israel is preparing to deploy international forces in the Gaza Strip in May as part of the next phase of a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.
The report indicated that the forces are estimated to include approximately 5,000 troops from Indonesia, alongside dozens of troops from Kazakhstan, Morocco, Albania and Kosovo, which could begin operations on 1 May.
The report also stated that the forces would initially be stationed around a new Palestinian city being developed with support from the United Arab Emirates in the Rafah area of southern Gaza before expanding to other parts of the territory.
Furthermore, the report mentioned that military delegations from participating nations are expected to arrive in Israel within two weeks to conduct reconnaissance tours of Gaza prior to troop deployment.
On 6 March, the Foreign Ministry announced that Indonesia had decided to suspend any discussions regarding the Board of Peace following the escalation of the conflict between Iran and the US-Israel alliance on 28 February.
