Expanding Ponorogo Regent Case, KPK Issues Two New Investigation Warrants
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued two Surat Perintah Penyidikan (Sprindik) as part of extending the handling of the case of alleged bribery and gratification involving Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko for the periods 2021-2025 and 2025-2030.
“From this Ponorogo case, the KPK has again issued two new Sprindik as of the end of April,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said at the agency’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday night, 19 May. “They are still general Sprindik for the corruption offence. That means no suspects have been named yet. And there is also a Sprindik for the Tindak Pidana Pencucian Uang (TPPU). So, there are two Sprindik for TPK and TPPU stemming from the Ponorogo investigation.”
In relation to the investigations into the two cases, investigators have already conducted searches at the home of a businessman in Pacitan Regency, East Java, on Monday, 18 May. Investigators found and seized electronic evidence (BBE). Based on reports from several media outlets, the house searched belonged to a businessman named Citra Margaretha, located at Krajan Hamlet, Bangunsari Village, Pacitan. CNNIndonesia.com has not yet received a response from Citra regarding the legal steps undertaken by KPK investigators.
Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko is currently undergoing trial at the Corruption Court of the Surabaya District Court in East Java. He is charged with receiving bribes totaling Rp1.85 billion and gratuities related to his office amounting to Rp5.57 billion.
