JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is expanding its export markets into the European region. The company had previously penetrated the African market. The expansion now continues to Reunion Island, a French territory. Semen Indonesia is shipping 11,275 metric tonnes of cement from the Teluk Bayur Port owned by PT Semen Padang. This shipment marks the initial phase of a total 31,500 metric tonnes scheduled from May to July 2026. “SIG’s initiative to provide eco-friendly green cement serves as a competitive advantage for the company. The CEM I 52.5 N type cement produced by SIG and exported to Reunion Island has successfully obtained the CE (Conformité Européenne) Marking, which is a mandatory indicator that the product meets the European Union’s standards for safety, health, and environmental protection,” said Indra in a written statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The exported cement product meets European Union standards. This certification is a primary requirement for entering the European market. Reunion Island is considered a potential market. This region has continuously increasing infrastructure needs. Indra stated that the company will open opportunities to export other building materials to the area. “In addition to strengthening the domestic market, SIG is also continuously maximising global market potential to increase utilisation and performance growth, as well as demonstrating the quality of SIG’s eco-friendly products to contribute to supporting sustainable development in various countries,” added Indra. Semen Indonesia is also partnering with strategic allies in this expansion. The collaboration focuses on providing low-carbon emission construction products. “This collaboration is expected to become the foundation for a long-term partnership that supports the provision of quality construction materials for sustainable development in Reunion Island,” he concluded.
