Kuwaiti civil aviation authorities reported that Kuwait International Airport was targeted by a drone attack on Wednesday (1/4/2026) local time. The incident triggered a large fire at the fuel storage facility.

Spokesman for the General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, stated that the attack was launched by Iran and the armed factions it supports.

“Kuwait International Airport has been subjected to a blatant drone attack launched by Iran and the armed factions it supports,” Al-Rajhi said, as quoted by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

He added that the target of the attack was the fuel storage tank, which then burned fiercely. Nevertheless, there were no casualties in the incident.

“The fuel storage tank was targeted, resulting in a large fire at the site,” he said.

On the same day, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior reported a fire at a business facility due to “Iranian aggression”. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence stated that it had successfully intercepted and destroyed several drones.

Another incident also occurred in Qatari waters. The UK’s Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) reported that a tanker was hit by an unknown projectile approximately 17 nautical miles or 31 kilometres north of Doha.

“The tanker was hit by an unknown projectile on its port side, causing damage to the hull above the waterline. The crew were reported safe,” the UKMTO statement said.

The agency added that there was no environmental impact from the incident and that investigations are ongoing.

Previously, on Tuesday, KUNA also reported a fire on a Kuwaiti oil tanker at Dubai Port due to an Iranian attack, with no casualties.

These attacks are occurring amid rising tensions in the Gulf region since the outbreak of conflict triggered by the US and Israeli attacks on Iran on 28 February. Since then, Tehran has reportedly launched missile and drone strikes on several targets in Israel and US allies in the Gulf.

This series of incidents also confirms the increasing security risks in the oil-rich Gulf region, in line with Iran’s threats to target vital infrastructure, including energy facilities, in response to the US and Israeli attacks.
