Danantara Establishes State-Owned Denera to Manage Waste Management
The Investment Management Agency Danantara (BPI Danantara) has established a new company named PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara, or Denera, on 1 April 2026. This corporation, which is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), operates under PT Danantara Investment Management and aims to manage Waste-to-Energy Electricity (PSEL) projects.
“Denera will hold the shares, operations, and management for all PSEL projects under Danantara Investment Management,” said Director of Investment at PT Danantara Investment Management, Fadli Rahman, during a discussion at Wisma Danantara on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
Fadli explained that the BUMN will become an integrated company in waste management. Management will also address waste transportation from various Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS) and provide education to the public for better management.
Danantara aims to gradually improve waste management in society from upstream to downstream. Efforts are being made to reduce accumulated waste ending up in Final Disposal Sites (TPA) or dumped indiscriminately.
“We will also focus in the future on waste other than household waste, such as industrial waste,” Fadli added.
Managing Director of Stakeholders Management & Communications at Danantara Indonesia, Rohan Hafas, stated that Denera will also participate in the site feasibility assessment process for PSEL development. The company will work with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to consider the readiness and commitment of local governments.
“Yes, together (with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry),” he said on the same occasion.
Currently, PSEL projects are located in Greater Bogor and Greater Denpasar, managed by Danantara’s Chinese partner company, Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co. Ltd. Additionally, there is one in Bekasi managed by Wangneng Environment Co., Ltd.
