Customs Office Attends Destruction of 4,989 Kilograms of Methamphetamine at Aceh National Narcotics Agency
The Head of the Banda Aceh Customs Office, Rahmat Priyandoko, attended the destruction of Group I narcotic evidence in the form of methamphetamine weighing 4,989 kilograms at the Aceh Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) Office on Thursday (16/4/2026). The methamphetamine was destroyed by being placed into a shredding machine (blender) mixed with alcohol and cleaning fluid. After becoming a mixture liquid, the methamphetamine was placed into jerry cans and then disposed of into the drainage system to ensure it could not be used again. The destroyed evidence resulted from a narcotics enforcement action conducted in Bireuen Regency. The enforcement began with information from the public regarding suspected narcotics shipments in Bireuen Regency. Based on the investigation results, BNNP Aceh officers conducted mapping and sweeps at points suspected to be drug trafficking routes. From the enforcement action, officers secured suspects with initials MM and B on the Medan-Banda Aceh Trans-Sumatra Highway, specifically in Keude Lapang Village, Gandapura Subdistrict, Bireuen Regency. In addition, officers secured evidence in the form of one vehicle unit and five packages of narcotics disguised in Chinese tea plastic wrappers. The actions of MM and B, who have been designated as suspects, are charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, in conjunction with Article 609 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2026 on criminal adjustments. Rahmat stated that this destruction is a manifestation of transparency and accountability to the public, and is carried out in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics regarding seized goods that have been designated for destruction. He emphasised that the presence of Customs at this destruction demonstrates synergy among agencies in eradicating dark drug circulation in the Aceh region. “Through this destruction, we are committed to protecting the public from the dangers of narcotics,” he concluded.
